Drug Policy
We represent one of the few organizations that advocates against marijuana legalization.
Marijuana is illegal at the federal level but deemed legal or partially legal in many U.S. states. Marijuana legalization has exacerbated existing problems and created new ones in the United States. Those problems include, but are not limited to increased illegal immigration; social decay and a surge in the presence of large international criminal enterprises from China and Mexico in the United States; increased driving-related deaths and workplace-related accidents; and increased anxiety, paranoia, and mental illness among young people. Additionally, in 2018, Congress accidentally created a loophole that opened the floodgates for the sales of intoxicating hemp products that remain virtually unregulated, making many of these problems worse.
We have educated stakeholders on Capitol Hill and in Presidential Administrations on marijuana policy and other drug related issues.
The Results
Off Hill Strategies has helped lawmakers make well informed decisions when it comes to drug policy. We have worked to promote anti-marijuana policies in the congressional appropriations process; circulated anti-marijuana bills and letters; and have helped members of Congress and staff recognize the hidden dangers in pro-drug legislation.
